Ruger Mark IV - Silencer Shop Exclusive: Optic Mount Compatibility Explained

Un-sure of which optic mount is compatible with your Ruger Mark IV Silencer Shop SSH Version?

A bulk of questions we've been receiving as of late, is for guidance on the selection of mounting plates for this particular version. We went ahead and put together this article to provide education on the differences for proper optic mount selection.

Silencer shop released a special configuration of the Ruger Mark IV with a 3in threaded barrel and called it the Silencer Shop Host Edition.  This is a great option for running a suppressor, and the consistent receiver diameter makes it aesthetically (in my opinion) the cleanest factory MKIV option for running a suppressor. 

The issue however, is that for the original release of the SSH Model, the mounting plate holes for some reason were not designed in the same location as the standard Ruger Pattern. That pattern has historically existed from the MKIII to the MKIV models.  Due to this, our standard mounting pattern plates are not compatible with this model.

Recently Silencer shop released a new SSH model with a direct mount rail for shield optic bases.  To add to the confusion, this model has returned to the original ruger mounting pattern, in which all of our standard mounts are compatible.

In hopes to clarify the differences, we've consolidated the part numbers below as to which of our mounting plates are compatible with each ruger model.  

For those on the fence on which SSH model to buy, we would recommend the RUGER 40185 RUGER MARK IV 22/45 PISTOL - SHIELD OPTIC BASE as it has retained the legacy mounting pattern which in general, gives you more compatibility for mounting accessories.
